Project Manager (2008-2011)
Responsible for budgeting seven projects per year, managing overall budgets of $125M. Created customized budgeting spreadsheets, directed cost analysis, finalized budgets in collaboration with Chief Engineers. Evaluated project milestones and checkpoints.
Financial responsibilities included accurately screening and analyzing what potential projects would add value to the company’s portfolio, the profitability of undergoing projects and use of profit measures to determine the profits on investments made. Planned, closed and managed new projects in the private and public sector. Coordinated teams of up to 200 workers and managed up to four Chief Engineers per project, for one of the largest construction companies in Central America. 100% project completion on time while meeting strict timelines and budget requirements.
• Negotiated and assured the signing of the contract with Overseas Engineering & Construction Co. (OECC), based in Taipei, Taiwan; for the construction of a 20-mile concrete road, which is a segment of one of the most important roads, connecting Guatemala City with one of the major marine ports in the country. The project started in April 2010 with a budget of $15M.
• Negotiated and assured the signing of the contract, for the construction of the project “Choloma Hydroelectric Power Plant,†which started in November 2010 with a budget of $5M.
• Served as Project Manager for the “Construction of the New Reservoir and Dam for Secacao Hydroelectric Power Plant.†Completing the $2.5M project in April 2009.
Quality Control Manager (2006-2008)
Created Customized Quality Management plans, for each business unit. Supervised crews of up to 60 workers (indirect reports) and managed up to four Quality Control Engineers (direct reports).
• Quality Control Manager; Documenting scopes, tasks, resource plans and progress of projects ranging from $2.5M to $50M.
• Established and improved quality and budget goals and objectives, as well as monitoring compliance for all the projects.• Led the re-certification in 2007 of ISO 9001-2008 for the construction and administration processes of road infrastructure.
• In charge of approving each Quality Control Engineer for projects, before an offer was made.
